President: Ato Wondwossen Teshome
Bio: Wondwossen Teshome is senior banking executive in Ethiopia with over thirty years of management, supervisory, consulting, and operational experiences. He is now serving as President of ENAT Bank. Prior to this current position, he was Senior Advisor at the Agency for Supervision and Regulation of State Banks, a financial advisory body.
Ato Wondwossen used to be the President of the Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE), the country’s premier development finance institution engaged in financing development projects of diverse nature. During his tenure at DBE, he has been involved in the financing and execution of various business development projects; as well as, in the modernization process of the Bank. Ato Wondwossen in his long financial career, has also been involved in project finance, debt structuring, arbitration and dispute resolution, and foreclosure proceedings. He had management oversight of financial analyses and due diligence in the financing of numerous manufacturing and agribusiness enterprises of diversified backgrounds. He has a thorough understanding of the business process, technical, legal and cultural complexities of business transactions in Ethiopia.
Ato Wondwossen has widely travelled around the world and has gained extensive experience in coordinating and partnering with multilateral financial institutions and foreign banks, and has a high degree of multi-cultural awareness. In the course of his career, he has gained wide respect for his understanding and support of business entities. Moreover, he has served as Board member of the Ethiopian Shipping Lines for over four years.
Ato Wondwossen holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Greenwich, London.
V/President: Wzo Birtukan G/Ezgi
Bio: Wzo Birtukan Gebreegzi Gebretekle serves as the President of Enat Bank. Wzo Birtukan brings a wealth of skills and knowledge to the position through her 30 years of professional banking experience. Most recently, Wzo Birtukan held the position of Director of the International Banking Department at the Bank of Abyssinia, where she expertly managed a large team and facilitated banking and business around the world.
Prior to her position at the Bank of Abyssinia, Wzo Birtukan held numerous positions at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, including: District Manager of North Addis Ababa, Director of the International Banking Department, Manager of Import/Export, Manager of Foreign Transfers and NR Account, and Head of the Correspondent Banking Relationship (among others). She has significant international exposure through business visits in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In addition, Wzo Birtukan has participated in frequent trainings to expand her professional expertise, including a Seminar for African Bankers in Mauritius, an International Banking course organized by KBC bank in Belgium, and a Trade Finance Seminar facilitated by Commerz Bank in Germany. She also completed an international banking training organized by Unicredito Italiano in Milan, Italy and a course with Standard Bank (Stanbic) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Wzo Birtukan has also served as Board Member of the Metehara Sugar Factory and on the Board Audit Committee of Nefas Silk Paints Factory. She is currently a board member of the Finot Health Center, which is under formation. Wzo Birtukan holds a Diploma in Banking and Finance from Commercial College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Addis Ababa University.
V/President Corporate Services: Ato Ermias Andarge
Bio: W“Ato Ermias Andarge is a qualified banker with more than 18 years of experience in two different commercial banks assuming different positions, including the Finance Director position for Bank of Abyssinia and Enat Bank. He is presently serving as Vice President of Corporate Services in Enat bank S.C.
As vice president of Corporate Services, Ato Ermias leads the support services needed to effectively and efficiently support the innovation, service quality, and profitability goals of Enat Bank using his expertise to provide direction, management, and leadership in budgeting, accounting, business planning, and all aspects of Enat Bank Administration.
Ato Ermias holds a diploma in Accounting from Addis Ababa Commercial College and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University.”.
Wzo Meaza Ashenafi - Chair Person
Wzo Meaza Ashenafi is one of the founders and the Chair of Enat Bank’s promoters group. Currently she is the Founding Chair of the Bank’s Board of Directors. Meaza has a long history of working to advance women's rights in Ethiopia; she was the founding Executive Director of the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association where she led nationally and globally recognized achievements in the area of legislative reform, women’s rights advocacy and legal support to women. Currently, Meaza is working as a Women’s Rights Advisor at the United National Economic Commission for Africa. Meaza holds LLB from Addis Ababa University's School of Law; as well as, MA in International Relations and Women’s Studies from the University of Connecticut, USA. She was awarded the “Hunger Project's 2003 Africa Prize for Leadership” and the “International Women of Courage Award for Ethiopia” from the Government of the United States in 2008.
Ato Chanyalew Yilma - Vice Chair Person
Ato.Chanyalew Yilma is a seasoned banker with more than 23 years of experience in commercial banking. He has held several top management positions in Ethiopian banks, including the President position of Bank of Abyssinia. He is presently serving as Executive Director of National Cement S.C. He serves as board director of Daloll Oil S.C and Board Chairman of One Cent Marketing and Management Company. He earned his Master’s Degree in Corporate Management and Finance from the Business Institute of Paris (Sorbonne), and B.A Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Addis Ababa University.
Wzo Nigist Haile - Member
Wzo Nigest Haile is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for African Women Economic Empowerment (CAWEE). CAWEE is the only NGO working in Ethiopia to provide capacity building services for women exporters. Nigest previously worked in the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Industry for 23 years, including as Head of the Women’s Affairs Department. Nigest received her B.A. in Psychology from Addis Ababa University and a post-graduate diploma in Globalization and Development from the Institute of Social Studies at the Hague in the Netherlands. She recently received an award from the U.S. Department of State for her contributions to the development of women-led businesses.
Wzo Netsanet Mengistu – Member
Wzo Netsanet Mengistu is the founder and Director of the non-governmental organization Progynist, which seeks to empower women and children through health, education, community support and poverty alleviation initiatives. Netsanet has been leading Progynist for the past 15 years. She also founded Meklit, a micro-finance institution. Netsanet has over 30 years of progressive experience in government, non-governmental organizations and international organizations in Ethiopia. She was a political activist during the Dergue regime.
Wzo Aster Solomon - Member
Aster Solomon has a rich experience in establishing and managing
businesses and large scale projects. She has accumulated vast
managerial skills through her over twenty years’ experience in
governmental and private sectors; as well as, in consultancy
positions in international organizations. She holds BA in
Agricultural Economics, Post Graduate Diploma in Geographic
Information System and Certificate in Project Planning.
Aster is a co-founder and General Manager (GM) of the 1st & longstanding GIS service company in Ethiopia, Information Systems Services (ISS). Her experience has also extended to being one among the promoters & founding members of Enat Bank; and currently serving as member of the Board of Directors.
Aster is also a GM of a family owned private school, New English Private School, which is expanding branches under her leadership.
Dr. Asefa Bequele, PhD - Member
Dr. Assefa Bequele is a development economist and an internationally recognized expert on child rights and child well being. He is the founder and, until recently, Executive Director of The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF), a Pan-African centre of policy research and dialogue. DrAssefa spent most of his professional life in the United Nations System, including as a Senior Director with the International LabourOrganization in Geneva, Special Representative to the African Union and ECA, and Director of the ILO’s Eastern and Southern Asia multidisciplinary technical advisory team based in Bangkok. Dr. Assefa has a PhD in Economics and is the author of numerous reports, publications and articles on economic development and child well-being. He is currently Distinguished Fellow at ACPF. He is a member and adviser of several high-level panels on children as well as a member of the International Board of Plan International and the Youth Advisory Council of MasterCard Foundation.
Amb. Kongit Sinegiorgis - Member
Kongit is Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African
Union and to the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
Ambassador Kongit is the most senior career diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She joined the Ministry in 1962 and has held numerous positions both in the country and overseas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given due recognition to her time-honoured service, together with the Golden Jubilee of the AU. Ambassador Kongit holds a BA in International Affairs and Post-Graduate diploma in Diplomacy.
In her passion to support development, Ambassador is also serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the 1st women’s bank in Ethiopia, Enat Bank.
Dr. Kassahun Abberu, PhD – Member
Dr. Kassahun used to lecture at Addis Ababa University, where he thought transport economics. He also was previously the Director of Shipping, Clearing & Transport for Ethiopia Amalgamated Ltd. Kassahun is currently a founder and current Chief Operating Officer of Akakas Logistics PLC. He is also the owner and manager of DebreZeit Swine Farm and Prime Milk Plc.
Wzo Hana Tilahun – Member
Wzo Hanna Tilahun is the owner and Managing Director of Bezalel Construction Material Manufacturing PLC, which employs more than 150 people in Ethiopia. Previously she worked in various leadership capacities, including as a Finance and Administrative Advisor to MH-Engineering PLC and as the Audit and Inspection Department Manger & General Manger Department Head to NORI-La Norinco Lalibela Engineering & Construction Company. She has been an Authorized Public Accountant Since 2001. Hanna received her B.A. in accounting from Addis Ababa University.
Woy Winta Yohannes Girmay – Member
Woy Winta has an opulent experience in managing businesses, particularly the overall financial management of the companies. Over the years, she has held different executive positions mainly in investment firms such as Venture Capital and Investment Bank. Winta’s overseas exposures and robust Ethiopian business environment experience has led her to be elected and serve as a Steering Committee Member of EU business forum, Member of the Institute of Interim Management UK and Board Member of Raya Brewery S.C.
Ato. Alemayehu Kebede – Member
Ato. Alemayehu Kebede is a banker with 36 years of work experience in the National Bank of Ethiopia. He has served at different positions, with special focus on Exchange control, Organization and Methods, Internal Audit, Control, bank modernization & external relations, change management & communications, as well as, Corporate planning. Alemayehu has also actively lead projects on strategic plan, monitoring and evaluation of performances, currency printing, procurement, payment and settlement system, financial education, performance management with emphasis on balanced scorecard, conducted & reviewed operational policies & procedures, organizational structure and job evaluation, trained staffs, and has published various internal study reports related to performance, strategy, management, administration etc. Served as counterpart for different world bank projects on payment system, overall central bank policy and procedure, with KPMG on comprehensive organizational and system study for the central bank. Actively involved in various organizational, administration, information systems, bank policy and procedures study.
Ato Kefale Zegeye Negussie – Member
Ato Kefale Zegeye is a member of the Board of Directors of Enat
Bank Since March 2016. He is a member of the Board`s Risk &
Compliance and Credit Review Sub Committee and also a member of
the Board`s Human Resource Affairs & Strategy Sub Committee.
Ato Kefale Zegeye is one of the senior bankers who had served in Private and government owned banks at different levels for 49 years, of which 20 years of his experience are in Supervisory positions. In addition he was director of Domestic Banking & Customer Relations Department and Branch Operation Department for three private Banks at different times. Ato Kefale Zegeye has also served as Board Secretary & Executive Assistant to the CEO at Bunna International Bank S.C.
